OUT MONDAY 22 FEBRUARY ON BUZZIN FLY

This is our 50th single. It is nearly seven years since we launched with label boss Ben Watt's best-selling 'Lone Cat' in 2003. Since then we’ve released forty-eight more including hot dancefloor singles such as Justin Martin's 'The Sad Piano', Rodamaal's 'Insomnia', Darkmountaingroup's 'Lose Control' and Glimpse and Martin Eyerer's 'Southern Soul', not to mention defining remixes from heavyweights such as Radio Slave (Mademoiselle Caro and Franck Garcia’s 'Dead Souls'), Charles Webster, Ame and Michel Cleis (Spencer Parker’s 'The Beginning'), plus left-field experiments from artists such as Lephtee, Low and Kayot.

For the 50th we have gathered together three respected artists and friends in one collaboration - Hamburg's sound innovator Stimming ('Kleine Nachtmusik' on Buzzin' Fly was Track of the Year in iDJ in 2008), Ben Watt himself and folk-jazz vocalist Julia Biel (last heard on Watt's own 'Guinea Pig' and Unity’s ‘I Love You’). The result is 'Bright Star'. Inspired by a musical sketch by Stimming, Watt wrote lyrics that were then improvised and sung by Biel before being stretched out over Stimming's unique mesmerizing production style in two contrasting mixes; the tense vocal-rich Sunset Mix and the twisted pulsing afterhours Sunrise Mix.

With the label acclaimed over the years for its original artwork (courtesy of iwantdesign) it seems only right that this 50th release will be extra-special. The 12" will be an ornately-designed strictly limited deluxe collectible gatefold edition, stamped with gold-foil, pressed on 180gm heavyweight vinyl, with a pull-out poster and lyrics insert. Although costing more than a regular 12", each one will carry a unique code that will allow the buyer to download a 320kbps MP3 of the release for free. Buzz buzz.
