Over the past few years Pin Ups has held a couple of NME aftershows because the tour fell on the same date as our monthly event. In 2007 we welcomed the Automatic to Guest DJ at our then venue the Woodside Social Club, which resulted in a legendary scene as the whole dancefloor was at one point full entirely of girls! Who would have thought that after all the dishy dreamy famous chaps who have passed through the door of Pin Ups (Brett Anderson! Alex James! Eddie Argos...) that it would be The Automatic laying claim to this sensational "dancefloor full of ladies" accolade.

Fast-forward to January 2009 and Florence (and her Machine) put on the kind of scenery-chewing turn which must have convinced the 300-odd present that they were in the company of somebody who was going to become a major star. Florence Welch didn't actually do much DJing herself, but preferred instead to strut about the DJ box, scale the walls, flash her boobs and so on. The friendly fellas of Friendly Fires had to follow this frenzy and I think they were fairly shell shocked and conducted their DJ set in a bit of a daze.

In 2010 the NME tour falls on a non-Pin Up Night but nevertheless we have decided that these evenings are usually such fun that we should have a specific Pin Ups NME Aftershow. We have booked Bombay Bicycle Club and The Big Pink to man the wheels of steel. We've yet to hear from the manager of the Drums, while the Maccabees were after a ridiculously huge fee...but the chaps from Bombay Bicycle Club and the Big Pink will definitely be in attendance, and in these situations the other bands tend to get dragged along too, so get your tickets now!

We will have a load of giveaway goodies on the night and the Pin Ups DJs will also be on hand to make sure the night goes swimmingly. And last but not least we have top Glasgow bands Nacional ( http://www.myspace.com/wearenacional ) and Fangs ( http://www.myspace.com/fangsfangsfangs ) playing live to set the tone.
