PENNY BLACK REMEDY - Friday 8th Jan @ The Windmill, Brixton
THE PENNY BLACK REMEDY (London)
Balkan Country Punk Juggernaughts, The Penny Black Remedy blend ska, punk, metal, rock and roll handclaps and country to produce a sound which defies categorisation but which will get inevitably get you dancing. Although they’ve been compared to Gogol Bordello and Manu Chao, their music is truly original. Their recently released debut album, ‘No One’s Fault But Your Own’ has received rave reviews but it is live that this band have gained the reputation as one of London’s best acts. TPBR will be the perfect antidote to the post Christmas blues.
'The finest country sing along I've heard' - The Guardian.
'An earthshaking cauldron of ska, blues and rock’n’roll offers a ‘dance first, ask questions later’ slant on life and love' – Musicians Magazine

THE KITS (London/Australia)
After starting out in the city of Melbourne, Australia, The Kits have now relocated to London where their sound has come into its own. Drawing comparisons with The Saints, Gang of Four and The Sonics, The Kits' tales of crime, addiction and short-lived romances have resulted in a rapturous following and earned them recent supports with The Dirtbombs, Wolfmother, The Saints and The Nightmarchers. They'll be playing songs from their recent album, 'Primitive Tales'.
'The Kits set the tone in style, the snarled delivery of their ragged ramalama harking back to the days when rock 'n' roll was considered a threat to the morals of the world's youth'- Kerrang

LIL’ LOST LOU (London)
Last year Lil’ Lost Lou released the BBC Radio 2 acclaimed limited 7” single “Bad Bad Girl” which Steve Lamaq described as “a great little single”. Lou and her band have supported the Queen of Rock and Roll, Wanda Jackson and Pete Doherty, the king of the skid row. A mix of country blues and PJ Harvey on speed (or, possibly, Jack White in drag), Lil’ Lost Lou has arrived.
