In support of the excellent ‘Movember’ men's health charity, hotly tipped London act missdavinalee are set to host a gala party with its own particular twist. Classic old-time pastimes intermingled with modern music and entertainment will be served up at A Victorian Fair with a day full of bands and a selection of special guest DJs just the cream of the plentiful crop on offer.
Alongside a veritable array of musical acts (missdavinalee, Bruised Beauties, Miss Annabel Sings…, Regency, Whiskey and The Wilsons plus Infadels DJs), A Victorian Fair also brings you Mrs Miggins Pies (with Butterfingers’ home-baked cakes), Sweeney Todd Barbers (aka Geo F Trumper – London’s oldest and finest barbers), A Tattoo Parlour with Roque Lopez, Kodak Moments with our Bearded Lady, get the Victorian London Look with professional hair and Make-up artists Jenny and Holly plus fun and games with prizes a-plenty including Hook a Pigeon, Wii-ctorian Shooting Gallery, Flea Circus, Facepainting, Armwrestling Duels, Jumble Sale and lots, lots more.
Male guests are actively encouraged to take part in the pursuit of the hirsuite by growing their facial hair to help raise money for the Movember charity (http://uk.movember.com/) with members of the Handlebar Moustache Association on hand to judge the very best Fu Manchu’s, Walrus’ and Chevrons on offer. If facial hair isn’t your thing then don’t fear as ladies and clean-shaven men are equally welcome to come and take part in the authentic fair with a charity donation all that’s needed to gain entry to this unique one-off event.
The Tooting Tram and Social, 46-48 Mitcham Road, SW17 9NA, a former Victorian tram shed, will provide the perfect, atmospheric backdrop to the afternoon's titillating timewarp. While the main downstairs space will hold 2 band stages and each of the main activities, the upstairs veranda's nooks and crannies will hold untold delights from a bygone era.
Live Acts:
Missdavinalee
Born and brought up in West Harrow, Davina Lee Cooke ("I like Foals, PJ Harvey, Nirvana and rabbits") assembled her band's line-up of Roald Madland (who, although first inspired to make music by an A-Ha cassette, formed his first band at the age of 10 to perform AC/DC covers), Angus Wilson (who used to write jingles for MTV) and Gareth Ashton (plays drums back-to-front) in East London in late 2007.
Sounding like a cross between the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pixies, B52s and PJ Harvey, missdavinalee reside snugly at the gorgeous musical intersection of warm-hearted, tail-wagging pop and darker, indie sub-punk without ever getting too serious about it all. The result is a compelling, memorable set of highly personable songs which will follow you round for days after you first hear them.

Bruised Beauties
Bromley 5-piece Bruised Beauties received their BBC Introducing debut opening BBC Kent Radio's show in March, with the upbeat and quirky punk song, 'The Great Wahoo'. Playing shows at sweaty high profile venues such as the 02 Academy Islington, Monto Water Rats and Camden Barfly, with the likes of Rogues, Tunics and Kids Love Lies, Bruised Beauties take their fascination of the rise and fall of beloved Britain with a giant helping of catchy toe-tapping melodies and a massive splat of verve. Fronted by sibling duo James and Jasmine, with the help of bassist Hayley, guitarist Jake and Boxie on drums, Bruised Beauties are the crazy indie kids to watch in 2009" - BBC Introducing write up for Sellindge Festival.

Regency
Performing acoustic Dean from Regency could possibly be Paul Weller’s younger brother. Songs of the working class for the masses, a true positive force.

MissAnnabelSings...The Elephant Man
MissAnnabel prepares a special performance taking on the soul of the elephant man. She'll lead you to that place ... where the mundane is extraordinary and the extraordinary is mundane.

Whiskey and The Wilsons
This band will let you into their world of blissed out stoner blues. The singer manages to capture a part of Nick Cave if he had bought and smoked a whole ounce of weed.
