LiTTLE DRAGON:
“Remember the first time you heard Portishead or Massive Attack? Artists with a unique sound that was ineffably theirs, adding new elements to what could otherwise be seen as traditional music to create an end that is nothing like that. That ‘Familiar yet fresh’ feel is something Little Dragon have also got down to a fine art…..” (IDJ)
“With disparate influences from Depeche Mode to Prince, LCD Soundsystem to James Holden, Dancehall to R&B, Jazz and Soul, Little Dragon take their place among artists who straddle many genres, yet somehow create their own and in doing so create sounds that make time stop. Futuristic yet somehow retro, Machine Dreams sees Little Dragon achieve something timeless; that elusive pop classic. a pulsating electro pop epic that Prince would be proud of.” (PEACEFROG)
“Machine Dreams is a step into a world of multi-hued musical possibilities” (4/5 MOJO)
“Superb second album… it’s magic” (DAZED & CONFUSED)
“It’s not easy to pull off cerebral dance music… everything shimmers beguilingly” SUNDAY TIMES)
“One of the most unique electronic outfits to emerge from the deluge of synth-touting eighties nostalgics” (THE SUN)
“One listen to Machine Dreams confirms that beneath the sweeping, scattershot electronic/analogue approach, Little Dragon’s heart beats faster than ever” (4/5 MIXMAG)
“Like Hot Chip partying with Madonna… Machine Dreams hovers this close to genius” (8/10 CLASH)
“Twisted electronic pop” (4/5 DJ)
“Machine Dreams is hazy and smooth, with drifting synths that conjure up images of lazy Ibiza afternoons” (ARTROCKER)
“A surprising concoction of digi-funk, down-tempo rhythms and twitchy electronica” (BBC MUSIC)
KOTCHY:
“There are increasing signs, especially on the New York fringes where rock, rap and electro merge, that dance music is diversifying. Brooklyn hipster Kotchy’s quirky blend of house, hip-hop and rock currently earning him comparisons with Pharrell.” (INDEPENDENT)
“Club-savvy Timberlake-like soul pop.” (MIXMAG)
“Meet the angst-ridden anti-Pharrell. He’s been making like Prince with a hard-on for the static-swathed glitch-pop that Flying Lotus made cool in ’08.” (NME)
“If Tricky circa Maxinquaye had brought that stoned, sticky, murky ambience to bear on disco, it would have sounded like this.” (THE TRUTH)
“Sexy 21st century pseudo-R 'n' B that’s been sealed with a fizz.” (BBC MUSIC)
