To celebrate their forthcoming releases on Ambassador's Reception and Bearfunk the dream team of Max Essa & Stevie Kotey join together for a special dance party
This is a unique opportunity to see Stevie and Max djing together. As Soiree the duo have a forthcoming long player "Zim Zim Zah Zah" on Bearfunk. Soiree breathe new life into the world of disco and dance music with a brilliantly wonky collection of leftfield gems. Like Ian Dury and El Coco working their way through a big bag of strong weed this L.P sounds quite unlike anything else around right now. Soiree stand out from the current sea of edits and rehashed grooves with their live playing, humour and originality. Max Essa is flying over from Tokyo especially for this Soiree and with over 30 years experience between them playing parties all over the world they have a wilful disregard for the constrictions of genre.
But that's not all Kotey's newest compilation Disco Diva Delights is in shops NOV 6th. If liked his hit compilation Disco Italia on Strut/K7 last year be sure to check this new CD out. The compilation will focus on one of the most important ingredients that is needed to make disco beautiful- the female vocal. Yes we all know that mainstream disco divas have been featured and covered to death and you should also know by now that the Ambassador's Reception doesn't do mainstream! So you won't find any Donna or Gloria here my darlings. This is going to be one of the sessions of the year!
Disco Diva Delights
Welcome to the first instalment of the Disco Diva Delights series. With that in mind, we decided to dig a little deeper and unearth some gems that you might know and some you might not. Compiled by veteran digger and DJ Stevie Kotey these nuggets have been tried and tested on the dance floor but will also provide perfect listening at home when you're ironing your flares for the weekend
