Sat Oct 17th - Belle & Sebastian special at HDIF in town
Hello!
If it's October, then it must be our annual Belle & Sebastian special. Every year we play an entire B&S album across the course of an evening (songs dotted throughout the night rather than all in one go), and this year it's the turn of "Dear Catastrophe Waitress". So come and dance to "Step Inside My Office Baby", "I'm A Cuckoo", "If You Find Yourself Caught In Love", "Wrapped Up In Books", "If She Wants Me", yes even "Stay Loose", and the rest! Doors are at 9pm, I'll kick off with "Lord Anthony" at 9.15pm, and then the rest of the album will sprinkled throughout the night.
Liz from The School has had to cancel at the last minute, so our guest DJ now is...drum roll please....David Feck from Comet Gain! Hurrah!
Indie song of the week: "Islands" by The XX. Not sure if this breaks the remit or not, but what the heck. I'm utterly besotted by this magnificent, magnificent group - to me, bits of Young Marble Giants, early Cure and Everything But The Girl, which makes them very HDIF in my book - so they're getting played.
Soul song of the week: "I Want To Be Your Driver" by Chuck Berry. I'm knee deep in preparation for the Halloween soul, sixties and rock'n'roll HDIF, and this beauty has been rocking my world. So an early taster of what to expect in a few weeks time.
Hope to see you on Saturday!
