sncl distro & record label update - perfect future cd out now
the perfect future cd is out now on sncl - debut release from this 3 piece, playing a mix up of downbeat miserable emo that explodes from sombre twinkles into noisier hardcore. a bit kolya, a bit 400 years, the vocals are sung, talked and shouted by turns. really stoked with how this one turned out. it is £4 + postage.
you can find it here: http://sncl.collective-zine.co.uk

Averkiou - Throwing Sparks 12" lp £9.00 : lovely melodic shoegaze like the pains of being pure at heart. rolls along gorgeously in a sea of warm guitars and distant vocals.
Bad Thoughts - Oh Jena 7" £3.50 : a-side is rhythmic and grooving with saxamaphone, funk punk / jazz / whatever you want to call it. b-side is even more so.
Bangers / Break the Habit - split 12" £6.00 :bangers and break the habit both play urgent melodic punk kinda like latterman / get bent. fun upbeat shit here. digging break the habits vocals.
Blank Dogs - Seconds 12" ep £10.00 : do you not have enough blank dogs yet? here is one on uber hip label captured tracks. more bleak goth / joy division droning.
Blank Dogs - Slow Room! 7" £4.50 :the flip side on this is positively poppy, which is nice. the other is less so. weirdo goff shit.
Blank Dogs - Under and Under 2 x 12" lp £11.00 : RESTOCK : does the world need a blank dogs double lp? clearly it does. more of their new wave / joy division bleakness and keyboards.

CPC Gangbangs - Kill Yourself For Rock N Roll 7" £3.00 : big, dumb garage rock n roll blazers
Ciudad del Cabo / Theraps - split 7" £3.00 : if you enjoyed cuidad's previous seven, you'll love this too. grooving 90s style emo with melodic and desperate vocals. beautiful. theraps on the flip are doing downbeat screamo with the wailed vocals buried completely in the mix.
the Copyrights / Dopamines - Songs About Fucking Up split 7" £3.50 : the copyrights are probably as good as pop punk gets. two catchy rockers like green day and blink 182. the dopamines are some good fun pop punk on the flip. driving and catchy in a similar ballpark.
Davila 666 - Pingorocha Y La 7" £3.50 : pureto rican garage / 60s pop / power pop.
Drunkdriver - Fire Sale 7" £3.50 : raging, messy hardcore punk rock with a metallic blast to things. recorded with a dusty needle.
Eddy Current Supression Ring - s/t 7" £3.50 : RESTOCK :holy crap, i am pretty certain eddy current suppression ring are as good as any other band around right now. this 7" establishes that. grooving post punk, THIS SOUNDS LIKE MOSS ICON, but don't tell the hipsters. this is on iron lung. i can't find a picture.
Elder - s/t 10" £7.00 : RESTOCK : guys from balboa and towers team up to play bruising screamo - great vocals, and plenty of build up. some of the better stuff in this style i have heard for a while. great looking record too.
the Elephant Walk - Swim the Sea 7" £3.00 : simple garage rock with a redneck country flavour. woops and shouted vocals. good fun.
Explode into Colors - Coffins 7" £3.50 : killer embossed covers. the music is stripped down and primitive, i guess it's no wave or something. one of these lasses is in kickball.
Fischer - s/t 7" £3.00 : RESTOCK : 4 tracks from the 7 songs cd for those who can only abide vinyl. the songs are great escape, noises and boredom, we eat caterpillars and our collection. cool melodic punk / emo, similar to friction.
Flight - Flowers 7" £3.00 : the a-side is really fuzzy stuff that's a bit like blank dogs and a bit poppier than that at the same time. the b-side is hazy rock and roll, pop filtered through dirt and dust.
France Has the Bomb - World of Mirrors 7" £3.00 : damn catchy post punk, in the same ballpark as stuff like headache city.
the Fresh & Onlys - s/t 12" lp £9.00 : garagey 60s pop. peacock and wing is one of the best songs i have heard all year.
the Gateway District - Some Days You Get the Thunder 12" lp £8.00 : this is some rock n rolling melodic punk with great vocals. no bullshit here. this is my fist crossed with husker du.

Mean Jeans - s/t 7" £3.50 : RESTOCK : super catchy ramonesey pop punk on the ever reliable dirtnap records.
Old Growth / 12XU - split 7" £3.00 :french dudes 12xu are one of the best new bands around right now and they need to do an lp in a hurry. this stuff is melodic and driving with perhaps more of a post punk / indie rock thing than the more emo stuff i have heard by these guys, but the vocals are superb. old growth are back and the first song sounds different. less straight forward, more like drive like jehu and tubers. the second is more like what i was exepcting.
Old Growth - Under the Sun 12" lp £8.00 : OG are back with another lp of their americana tinged indie rock with harmonica and all that. have they topped their previous LP cover?

Pianos Become Teeth / Ezra Joyce - split 7" £3.50 :not sure which band is which. one side is epic, envy styled screamo, the other is less epic, but kinda similar stuff.
p.s. eliot - introverted romance in our troubled minds 12" lp £8.00 : get past the cheeseball name, the pretentiously youthful album title and ropey cover and here you have a dashed fine album of punky indie. often like discount, and often very good indeed.
Religious to Damn - Falls Down Again 7" £3.50 : soft and rather depressing pop music with a soul influence. very nice. bit chillier than the current weather tho.
Rika / Everton - split 12" lp £7.00 : rika is awesome, autumnal, twinkly indie emo that will appeal to fans of mineral and arrows. everton is more rocky, but should appeal to fans of mineral and empire! empire!
the Shackles - Broken Arm 7" £3.00 : killer, indie / pop / whatever here. can't really define it. the a side is kind of lazy but still rocking. the b is a bit more garagey. very recommended!
Shang-A-Lang - Sad Magic 12" lp £8.00 :fuzzy pop punk. simple and good with it. this sound a lot like really early superchunk.
Snuggle / No High 4s 2 Bullshit - split 7" £3.00 :snuggle is fast and sloppy melodic punk. no high 5s are like a really drunken, murky jawbreaker.
Spider Bags - A Celebration of Hunger 12" lp £9.00 : miserable americana / indie from chapel hill. whiskey sodden, down trodden, get the fuck on with fucking up kind of stuff.
the Spits - s/t 12" lp £8.00 : juvenile pop punk, a bit reatard, a bit ramonesey. "WE'RE GONNA BURN OUR TEACHER'S CAR TONIGHT"
Street Eaters - We See Monsters 12" lp £8.00 :neat two piece playing bass and drums driven post punk stuff with a little emo flavour too. the female + male vocals rule a lot. this sounds like it should have been on obscurist press. COOL!
