Play It By Ear Club
We all know that 2009 has pretty much been the year of pop – from the female torchbearers of Lady Gaga and Little Boots to their male counterparts – Frankmusik and Dan Black, even from bands such as Passion Pit and the continued classics of Girls Aloud.
So this month we’re celebrating all things pop-tastic – the return of X-Factor, the joy of a shady night at Popstarz, the nostalgia of a PushPOP - plus we’ve got our mitts on some great 90s remixes so stand by for some true ‘club classics’!
Join us on Sept 26th for some great sing-a-longs to big choruses and catchy lyrics, shameful on-stage dancing and even a swig of alcohol soaked fizzy pop.
Doors at 8pm, you know the rest!

***H-BOOGIE***
http://www.myspace.com/hboogiemusic
Estelle may be the symbol of the best UK R&B but her little sister H-Boogie aka Haidara Swaray is the best of UK pop.
Despite touring together, H-Boogie’s sound rests firmly in synth-pop style of Little Boots with a dash of Ladyhawke and hint of thecocknbullkid’s lyrical Ladyhawke's 80s US AOR sensibility and a smidge of thecocknbullkid's distinctive lyrical bite.
And boy has this girl got off to an impressive start!
With her debut album imminent, she’s already worked as a songwriter and backing vocalist for everyone from Unkle Jam to Kardinal Offishall and has also lent her vocals to Dave Armstrong and Redroche's Love Has Gone, which was a club hit around the world and had zillions of people watching it on YouTube.
Her songs are reminiscent of the best things about Eurythmics, Kylie, Donna Summer and Goldfrapp.
Watch out Estelle, your sister’s hot on your heels!
***BLACK CHERRY***

From a Hackney basement to the streets of New York City, Black Cherry have a rapidly increasing following based on their electric live performance and music which forges dance, rock n roll and electro-pop pop pop.
Having played with acts ranging from Siouxsie Sioux to Iglu & Hartly, this band is going to knock your senses with their high-energy musical assault and a front woman who mixes M.I.A with Annie Lennox!
***A.T.8***

Two feisty females hailing from Buckinghamshire whose debut EP has been praised for its pure pop delights by the likes of Popjustice and The Fly. Their live performances are described as being just the right side of polished with some hilariously filthy banter. With sharp songwriting and potential hits in the bag - watch out for this duo!
