Indie/folk/postrock promoters/venues help?
Hi folks
We're coming to the UK next month to tour and still have dates to fill. Please post here with friendly indie/folk/postrock promoter/venue suggestions. We're also up for gig swaps if any cool bands want to come play Italy.
We don't need loads of money - we just want to play with some cool bands, meet some good people, drink a few beers, cover our costs, and sleep somewhere safe.
We've got an EP that's in a bunch of independent UK record shops, some good press from Foxy Digitalis and Terrascope, among others. And we reckon some folks will dig what we do, which, in the words of one kind blogger, is "kind of post-Arcade Fire meets
English folk but then throws in post-rock guitars, New Weird
Americana, big widescreen ballads."
You can hear our music at http://www.myspace.com/magpiewedding
The dates are:
11 Oct 2009 Need gig
12 Oct 2009 Need gig
13 Oct 2009 Need gig
14 Oct 2009 Royal Park Cellars, Leeds (w/Crazy Man Michael)
15 Oct 2009 Cookies, Halifax (w/The Steals)
16 Oct 2009 Jamboree, London (w/Ellen Mary McGee)
Cheers

"A wonderful surprise - bringing up not too distant memories of a young teenager discovering Ida and Red House Painters for the first time, overjoyed at how beautiful, joyous, and oddly melancholy music can be." 9/10
Foxy Digitalis, USA
"Using folk as their starting point, the band add touches of drone, wyrdness and emotion… with opening track 'Time Yet' having the feel of a Nick Drake recording, the haunting voice of Grace... drawing you in."
Terrascope Online, UK
"Our notes range from post-rock guitars to Modest Mouse to Anne Briggs to Scout Niblett to Shearwater to the Indelicates to Asthmatic Kitty records... It's a properly great record."
Sweeping The Nation, UK
