The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
The Life Aquatic is Wes Anderson’s fourth feature length film, a gem amongst the five feature lengths he has released to date. This relatively small but stunning body of work has earned Anderson a devoted following and critical acclaim.Typically idiosyncratic and funny, The Life Aquatic sees Bill Murray as Steve Zissou, a somewhat desperate variation of underwater explorer and all round hero Jacques Cousteau. Adorned with their effulgent red hats and sailing on their own version of Cousteau’s ship Calypso (named the Belafonte in the film after The King of Calypso himself Harry Belafonte) it is their quest to find the jaguar shark which killed Captain Zissou’s friend, Esteban.
8pm start. 119 mins. Free entry.
The Duke of Wellington Pub N1 4BL
Cinematograph is a new film club screening films at The Duke of Wellington Pub in Dalston, taking place every first and third Sunday of the month. Each week we'll be watching films from our favourite places, genres, directors, and actors; exposing their best works and reflecting on why they're worth watching. Expect double features, live music accompaniments, collections of short films, and other bits in between.
