THE SHOKS
THE SHOKS Formed in a smoked filled room of Neds Grans house, were Dave and Ned were brought together by Dave’s brother Mick, when he was on a boxing ticket selling assault. He noticed a bass guitar sat in the corner of Ned’s room, he asked Ned how long he had been playing bass, Ned replied “About two weeks”. Mick then said, “My brother Dave as just started messing about with guitars” and they should get together for a jam. After a few days of jamming the pair filled with enthusiasm but with very little musical experience decided to form a band, they needed a drummer and a singer. Mick decided he wanted to be the drummer even though he had never picked a drumstick up in his life, so that was it Mick was the drummer. Now just a singer down the three was keen and practiced as much as possible but needed that singer. Dave’s school friend Scott was brought into the equation and asked if he wanted to join a band, Scott replied “Yea why not, may as well give it a go”. So that was it THE SHOKS were born full of energy and full of passion with different influences coming from The Who, SeX PiStOLs, Velvet Underground, Beastie Boys, Stone Roses, Buzzcocks, Nirvana and an array of many other bands. They continue to go from strength to strength with no real concept just an enjoyment for the music they make, a raw, melodic, energetic punk rock style.............THE SHOKS
