A Festival? In a night club? You can’t have a festival in a night club…
Oh yes you can, at the first ever Pin Up Nights Festival! Its June, the sun is in the sky (sometimes) people are getting badly burned in the scorching 20 degree heat, cider has suddenly become absolutely delicious and all everybody wants to do is wallow in some mud and watch some fantastic bands. Sometimes pesky occurances like finding yourself indoors or that darned nighttime can scupper these type of high jinks but for one night only we are pleased to announce Pin Up Nights is bringing this exciting festival experience to you at The Flying Duck.
We’ve lined up a crack selection of bands from across the UK for your pleasure:
NEVADA BASE: (Glasgow)
One of Pin Up Nights current favourite bands – think Hot Chip, Who Made Who etc, ‘If I’m Late’ is a smash hit in waiting. http://www.myspace.com/nevadabase
LOST KNIVES: (Manchester)
Generating a tremendous amount of hype – 6Music unsigned band of the week, NME radio favourite etc etc this bunch are amazing and not to be missed! http://www.myspace.com/lostknivesband
RBRBR: (Edinburgh)
From the east, sound magnificent and even take the trouble to dress up for the stage. Recently in session for Radio 1. http://www.myspace.com/rbrbr
MJ HIBBETT: (London)
A London indie legend, songs of love, loss, dancing at indie discos and The Smiths – we love it. http://www.myspace.com/mjhibbett
As well as that action we’ve lined up Guest DJs for the Kitchen to give you that essential Festival selection. Gracing the decks will be:
CRAIG ORZEL! (The Twilight Sad)
CRAIG MCGEE! (King Tuts)
TAM COYLE! (Night Moves, Bunker)
And MJ HIBBETT himself! (expect shoegaze, indie, C86 etc)
In the main room the Pin Ups DJs will be performing their usual mix of indie/punk/soul/electro/hilarity for your dancing pleasure till 3.
As it’s a festival the Pin Ups chaps will be turning the Flying Duck into something resembling a field…in Hampshire…alright…you can expect to encounter:
Tents! A Mystic Zone (including Glasgow's famous Fortune Telling Cryptic Gypsy)! A pole to find your mates if you get lost! cider giveaways! A free festival guide for the first 100 people! wristbands! stalls! straw! sunglasses! wellies! inflatable willies! big hands! beach balls! deck chairs! A first aid section! Flooded toilets! (OK, Barney at the Flying Duck might not let us do the last one….)
Get into the spirit of things and bring your festival outfits – anything could happen and even though there won’t be any mud, we reckon things might just get pretty messy…
Bargain £4 advance tickets are available now from http://www.tickets-scotland.co.uk or the shop at http://www.pinup-nights.co.uk (where you'll also find in the gallery pictures of all our jam-packed events since Hogmanay).
