PREFUSE 73
"It’s hard to think of a name that carries as much weight in both hip-hop and avant-rock circles as Prefuse 73, who in the past year alone has been asked to remix TV On The Radio, Pelican, BLK JKS and Cornelius, not to mention his early collaborations with School of Seven Bells and Battles. These interactions have clearly helped to shape the evolving Prefuse 73 sonic aesthetic, which has expanded to include Herren’s twisted visions of prog-rock, “machine funk” and global psychedelia.
For Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian, Herren rejected the idea of straight digital recording and instead went the much more intensive route of recording to analog Ampex tape, giving the album the sound of a lost tape of exploratory studio musicians from the not-too-distant past. In addition to the recording process, Ampexian also differs in its composition, existing as a tapestry of tracks of varying lengths and moods, albeit with a remarkable linear flow and, of course, unmatched rhythmic bump.
Everything She Touched Turned Ampexian will also mark the beginning of three-album release cycle for Herren, as he will release two other efforts in Spring 2009 under his various monikers. He follows Ampexian with his newly minted Diamond Watch Wrists (featuring Zach Hill from Hella) Ice Capped at Both Ends LP also via Warp in April. Then in May, Herren will follow up with a new Savath and Savalas release, La Lama, Stones Throw."

DIMLITE
Live – Stones Throw // Sonar Kollektiv
Manchester debut from Dimlite, the main alias of swiss-born musician/producer Dimitri Grimm.
With his father being a casual multi-instrumentalist and his grandfather a contemporary classical composer, the apple hadn’t had a big chance to fall far from the tree.
Trying to find a niche and audience for Grimm’s music, it has often been compared to the work of fellow producers Dabrye and Prefuse 73, which is apt and honorable in parts but doesn’t do it the necessary justice, since his sound isn’t any less distinctive than that of the two celebrities, and showcases a much broader diversity of influences.
After releasing a first EP («A/DD», 2003) and two albums («Runbox Weathers», 2005 & «This Is Embracing», 2006) on Berlin label Sonar Kollektiv and occasional touring with his liveproject he is currently working on the third full-length, which will see light of day in 2009.
DIAMOND WATCH WRISTS
ft. Zach Hill + P73
Another Manchester debut, Diamond Watch Wrists is the new proeject from Guillermo. S. Herren (Prefuse 73), Zach Hill from legendary noise rock band Hella and sometimes Tyondai Braxton from Battles.

DENIS JONES
Denis Jones is a self-taught guitarist and songwriter from Lancashire, UK. Having begun his musical life as a singer songwriter in the classic UK mould of the likes of John Martyn, he has over the last three years developed a show-stopping live performance based around the core of his exceptional and unique guitar-playing style and rich, soulful voice. Utilising a loop station and all manner of samplers and effects, Denis creates vast, complex orchestrations of beat-box rhythms, multi-layered vocals and other-wordly sounds which veer from subtle heart-wrenching folk and blues to heavy bass-driven electronica.
Denis has collaborated with many high profile artists from all over Europe, including a track with Dusseldorf artist Kemo which was included on Marcus Intelex's Fabric Live 35 compilation. He has also worked with John Ellis and Luke Flowers (Cinematic Orchestra), Jon Thorne (Lamb), Sneaky (Fingathing) and Henry Da Massa (Micah P Hinson), all of whom appear on Denis's recordings.
BORLAND
Another exclusive debut, Borland is Ian Dominic Breen and Robert Martin Gregg. In recent months they have been joined by Francis Douglas and Thomas Langfield giving the project a more bandlike approach. Beautifully crafted electronic musings, Borland are definitely ones to watch.Their debut album 'Lake & Tree & Me' is available in mp3 from all good digital stores.
