Shonen Knife are a super influential all-female Japanese pop-punk band formed in Osaka, in 1981, by sisters Naoko Yamano and Atsuko Yamano. The Ramones loving food obsessed trio effortlessly create kooky songs with upbeat infectious melodies and exuberant lyrics often about sweets and animals. The bands twenty-seven-year career has seem them tour the world with Nirvana (on the Nevermind tour), Sonic Youth, the BMX Bandits, and as part of Lollapolooza. They also recorded sessions for John Peel, appeared on MTV’s Beavis and Butthead, 120 minutes, the Conan O’Brian show and even wrote "Buttercup (I'm a Supergirl)" for that for the hugely popular cartoon the Powerpuff Girls.
The band have a new Bassist (Ritsuko Taneda), a new album called ‘Super Group’ and have now decided to embark on a world tour again!
"When I finally got to see them live, I was transformed into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles concert." Kurt Cobain

Food obsessed London based Japanese female lofi scuzzy 50's garage-pop trio. The band share a zany sense of humour making their live shows wholesome and incredible fun. Haruna plays guitar, Sachi plays bass and new member Kyoko plays the drums and they all sing. The band have won many (mostly male) fans with their simple, catchy songs and fetching hats and are destined for ultra fame and more expensive hats.
"No Cars are a bubblegum band, and the audience is chewing....we’re happy to encourage the new Queens of Cute." Artrocker

Susan and Maria also recorded back-up vocal tracks on The Hold Steady's newest album, "Stay Positive." Maria has been a board member and pianist for New York avante group, Anti-Social Music.
*THE DEBUTANTE HOUR It's blues-ish; it's country. It's old country meets new country. It's knee slapping and hand clapping. "With the help of two accordions. -- elegantly gowned and coiffed, Brooklyn super nova of Maria Sonevytsky and Susan Hwang singing sweetly (sometimes in Ukrainian) about lost love, weird love, guitar heroes and the devil." -- Not Only Brooklyn
"Equipped with accordion and low-tech-drum-kit, these two very nice girls from NYC and Ukraine played antifolk songs with the occasional waltz, warming up the audience to clap along and cheer." -- betörend (Hamburg, Germany)
