CASIOKIDS: - http://www.myspace.com/casiokids
Last time Casiokids played here, they well and truly smashed it. A Full house danced and bounced along to songs most have them had never heard and couldn't understand a word of. But EVERYONE left that room having witnessed one of the best gigs they'd ever seen.
Old analogue and trashy keyboards, pop melodies, plenty of instrument swapping, soaring vocals and a digital & shadow puppet theatre make up the Norwegian electro-troupe that is Casiokids.
The band sprung out of an idea of making electronic music more visual, but has developed further into being a collective of theatre blended with pop melodies often sung in their native language and influenced by afro-beat, techno and out-and-out pop.
They were deservedly awarded "single of the week" by The Guardian back in February for "Fot I Hose" which came out on the prestigious Moshi Moshi label. The single is amazing, but the song performed live is a whole different beast altogether. Worth the admission fee alone!

SUNSET CINEMA CLUB: - http://www.myspace.com/sunsetcinemaclub
Local favs Sunset Cinema Club warm things up nicely for the headliners, bringing their amazing blend of post punk riffs, punk funk basslines and garage songs.
“Very ace, very jerky lo-fi punk-rock" - NME
“Like Sonic Youth grown younger and intensely hornier” – The Fly
“The Pixies, but if they were more black!” – dude from Lichfield
BRIGHT LIGHT BRIGHT LIGHT: - http://www.myspace.com/rodthomasmusic
Rod Thomas comes to Birmingham for his first gig as Bright Light Bright Light. We spotted him in a bar in Paris last November and have been waiting for the right line-up to put him on with.
Often described as "acoustic disco", Rod’s music is made using a loop pedal, handclaps, acoustic guitars and percussion to orchestrate tales of life, love, and dancing at discos.
He was the Winner of "Ukelele Video of the Year" in 2008 (yes, you heard!) for his superb "Same Old Lines" video and has previously played at Latitude, Bestival and Glastonbury. And he's a thoroughly nice chap too!
For a taster - watch the video for Same Old Lines here...

Thats the live element, but we're not finishing there, we don't want you getting bored between bands or after they've finished, or even before they start, so we've invited some great DJs to come and spin some records too.
SCOTT BLEEPZ:
You may recognise this young man from his Thursday residency at APT at the Bulls Head, or maybe from the harder edged BLEEP BLEEP, or maybe from being heavily involved with Bigger than Barry. Mr Bleepz has got a real mixed bag of tunes, from heavy bass bangers to blissed out balearic beats. Lets see what he pulls out for this occasion.
NEW YORK NOISE:
These guys manage to get real life breakdancers spinning round on the floor to New-wave Punk Funk! Imagine that! Local favourites at The Yardbird, now starting to take their musical stylings out on the road. Think ESG & Liquid Liquid and you're not too far off.
INSIDE & THIS IS TOMORROW - a new partnership, dedicated to bringing only the very best music to Birmingham.
