Jennifer Gentle are one of the most idiosyncratic, improbable, bizarre Italian bands ever. Hailing from Padova, a foggy town not so far from Venice, they are the first Italian band to be signed by legendary US label SUB POP Records (home of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney and more recently the Shins).

Collecting fans as different as Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Graham Coxon (Blur), Jarvis Cocker, Mars Volta, Julian Cope and members of Architecture In Helsinki and Dandy Warhols, Jennifer Gentle have probably become the best known Italian indie band abroad. Which brings us to London.... Jennifer Gentle's sound is 50’s rock n’ roll and crude garage punk, with an obvious soft spot for Barrett-era Pink Floyd.... Similar in tone and freneticy to Kite Season, the bands became friends on the road a few years back and Jennifer Gentle have been waiting for the chance to play with Kite Season, handpicking them for this one-off performance.

Following a move from their home town of Portsmouth a few years ago Kite Season have been living and gigging relentlessly in London. A residency at Jamboree, a sweet little underground venue in the east end, has helped these Cardiacs-meets-Syd Barrett indie punks gain a foothold on an often indifferent and stifled scene.
