This is a post for a gig by a band called Adebisi Shank + Guests 15/06
MONDAY 15TH JUNE @ THE MIST, DERBY
DOORS 8PM
Adebisi Shank are an electric, energetic, loud band from Ireland proving there's more to the artistic, experimental musical nature of their land than just 'charity giving' money grabbers like U2. Taking their cue from acts such as Battles, Don Caballero, Oxes and Lite, their debut LP "This is the album of a band called Adebisi Shank" shines through with rays of inventiveness that would teach a few of their contemporaries a thing or two in the art of writing, without ever leaning into the self indulgent persuasions many have fallen ill to when attempting this sort of 'art noise'.
“Adebisi Shank are one of the most exciting live bands in Ireland right now” - Rock Sound [UK]
"Very interesting, Adebisi Shank....very post-modern EP....Very Good" - Tom Dunne (Today FM)
"It's the sound of three musicians testing each other's limits, whilst somehow keeping it on the right side of listenability. Absolutely superb." - collective-zine.co.uk
"musically manages to skirt every cliche in the book and head out into the clear waters of genius." - InDublin magazine (4 Stars)
"Adebisi are more than just spazz rock - the level of feeling they inject into every tune shows a depth their peers sorely lack." - Nialler9.com (#1 EP of the year 2007)

Alright the Captain - New 3 piece lineup from us midlands badgers
"Alright The Captain are an instrumental band. And round here, you know what being an instrumental band means - intricate intertwining math-y guitar lines, punishing drumming, the odd lapse into sludge metal riffage. Well... yes, all that, but there's something in the way they do it which includes more than just knowing their way round post-rock dynamics, with knowledge of surf, post-hardcore and glitch all coming to the fore" - Sweeping the nation
“Experimental rock, which bursts from trippy melodic surf to ‘all guns blazing’ progressive and aggressive rock in moments!” - The maze
“heat fuzzed out surf to twisted funk to stylised angular heaviness. Something for everyone who likes having their cerebral cortexes turned inside out while they wait!”
