Fleur-de-Lys Club goes global: May 20th @ The Lexington
The Fleur-de-Lys Club has gone global this month with three international bands from the far corners of the world! The Fleur-de-Lys Club runs every third Wednesday of the month at London’s Lexington with the next show Wednesday 20th May. If you can't make the show do check these bands out anyway as they are all excellent.
The John Steel Singers (Brisbane, Australia) - www.myspace.com/thejohnsteelsingers
Australian band John Steel Singers are in the UK for the first time, and from listening to their glorious summer pop melodies they will be back many times. Having won ‘Unearthered’ at Brisbane’s Big Day Out, the Oz equivalent to winning Glastonbury unsigned, the bands reputation has been growing fast supporting the likes of The Polyphonic Spree and Built to Spill.
Hey Rosetta! (St John's, Canada) – www.mysapce.com/heyrosetta
Billboard magazine recently voted Hey Rosetta! as one of the top 5 new bands from Canada. In their native country the band has been extensively touring their critically acclaimed debut album ‘Into Your Lungs’. Having recorded the album during sub-zero winter months in a harbour near St John’s, Newfoundland, expect brooding string led indie soundscapes.
Harrys Gym (Oslo, Norway) – www.myspace.com/harrysgym
Harrys Gym create an eerie blend of psychedelic pop and dark atmospheric blissed out melodies. Down tempo it may be but their beautifully structured ambient arrangements will take the listener on a mystical journey far far away.
