SPRINGWOOD HALL, KELSO
SATURDAY 9TH MAY 2009 7pm-1am
Faithless frontman Maxi Jazz headlines a very special one-off event at Kelso’s Springwood Hall on Saturday 9th May with a DJ set. The multi million selling artist who made his mark on the music scene worldwide by fronting the band on hits such as ‘Insomnia’, ’We Come 1’ and ‘God is a DJ’, plays the first ever concert of it’s kind at the versatile Borders venue. Just as Faithless have a wide range of influences, Maxi Jazz will bring an eclectic blend of hip-hop, RnB, soul, funk, reggae and party tunes spanning over the last three decades, playing everything from James Brown to Tom Browne and various tangents in between.
Also on the bill are promising Berwick anthemic rock band The Briganties (www.thebriganties.net) who will be using the event as a showcase to preview their forthcoming debut album ‘Forever’ which they have been busy recording at PFL’s Berwick studios over the past few months, in between playing with the cream of new Scottish bands at respected venues such Glasgow Barrowlands. Further additions to the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
Springwood Hall is more commonly used for trade shows, conferences, weddings, balls and award nights. However a full stage, sound system and lighting rig is being brought in and constructed inside the venue especially for the show as well as a licensed bar and catering facilities serving up an organic menu. This special event is likely to go down as one of the area’s biggest music events for a generation and due to stature of its star attraction, is likely to be talked about for some time to come.
Tickets for the night, priced at £20, are sure to be in high demand and are available from The Maltings box office in Berwick in person or by telephone on 01289 330999. Punters are advised to act quickly to avoid disappointment.
