Play It By Ear Club - 18th April
Happy Birthday to us! And you! That’s right it’s the 1 year anniversary since Play It By Ear began –
That’s 12 months of countless bands, a lot of dancing and probably far too many Jager shots and we’re looking forward to months of the same, if not more fun!
Since April last year we’ve brought you Marina & the Diamonds, Offical Secrets Act, Soko, Josh Weller, A.Human, Stricken City, John & Jehn, Heloise & Savoir Faire and so many more excellent new bands!
To celebrate your wonderful support and a great year for us, we’ve got a stellar line up.
The two main bands are playing the Camden Crawl a week later but we suggest you avoid the queues and come see them first at PIBE while you party armed with drinks, friends and lots of cake!

***PLUGS*** www.myspace.com/plugsmusic
Plugs is the side project of Morgan Quaintance who plays guitar and synthesizer with Does It Offend You, Yeah? and so naturally fans of DIOYY, along with Hot Chip, Friendly Fires and Dan Black are going to go crazy for this party band.
Plugs music is an assault to the sense, constantly changing to feature afrobeat tinges, twitchy dancehall rhythm, reverberating electro-basslines, shimmering keyboards and playful vocals.
Their first single, That Number was Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World and Single of the Week everywhere from Radio 2 to 6 Music.
“They feel capable of something great,” Paul Lester, The Guardian
***POST WAR YEARS*** www.myspace.com/thempostwaryears
Awash with buzz following SXSW, PWY have built up a reputation for a ferocious live performance and a sound that earns them thickening praise from an army of adoring fans.
Self-described as making music that is powered by “ambient and harmonised bass guitars, soaring melodies, crazy synth lines and the occassional 6-string”, oh and let’s not forget some of the most dangerously intoxicating beats you’re likely to hear in the current indie/dance cross-over.
Hailed by some as Talking Heads meets 80s electronica, PWY also cite influences as Battles, Late of the Pier and Bjork.
Get ready to move your body to this ear candy!
***DIRTY GOODS*** www.myspace.com/dirtygoods
Hailing from Newport, Wales, Dirty Goods are awash with fresh tunes to get you dancing!!
Formerly of indie outfit Jump the Underground, a band referred to by the NME as “Super Scratchy Indieists”, Dirty Goods play '80's influenced electro-pop influenced by such masters as Daft Punk, Prince, Chromeo and MSTRKRFT. Apparantly, "a way to a women's chest". Hmm.
This shy pair (they only use girls on their promotional material) are tipped for great things in 2009 so come see them at PIBE first before they become Wanted Goods!!
