On Sunday April 5th Baba Yaga’s Hut invites you to partake in our latest extravaganza, an evening with the High Priestess of No Wave, Lydia Lunch. Almost thirty years ago Teenage Jesus and The Jerks arrived in the UK to play their first London show. Last year Lydia confounded expectation and “re-animated” the group for one-off performances at New York’s Knitting Factory and the 2008 All Tomorrow’s Parties festival. The time has now come to complete the cycle and Corsica Studios are extremely proud to present the final ever UK appearance of Teenage Jesus and The Jerks. Their original incarnation was brief, chaotic and incendiary but their influence has been profound and long-lasting and casts a huge shadow over today's musical landscape.
As one era ends another commences and tonight will also see the debut of Big Sexy Noise, Lydia’s latest musical collaboration with James Johnston, Ian White and Terry Edwards – an unholy union that was always bound to happen. This will be the one and only chance to witness the corpse of No Wave stomped to near death by its brutal Mistress as she unleashes her latest musical outrage.
Support comes from apocalyptic No Wave starlets An Experiment on a Bird in The Air Pump.
As if that weren’t enough we are extremely privileged to be joined by DJs David Knight (Shock Headed Peters) and the one and only Jim Thirlwell ( Foetus, Wiseblood, Manorexia and collaborator with Lydia Lunch on Stinkfist ) who’ll no doubt be adding a soundtrack of exotic sleaze and crime-jazz to proceedings.
