RUDE MECHANICALS
Miss Roberts, frontperson of the Rudes, is an outsider artist, controversial visionary, eccentric, and collector of small insignificant objects. "Rude Mechanicals have to be seen, no they really do have to be seen - they all look so intriguingly good, they demand your full attention, your fascination... there’s some seriously good musicians up there and it all seems to flow so so easily, so effortlessly when it should be so uncomfortably awkward..." ANDREW BAILEY
He didn't invent alternative comedy, but he was doing something a lot like it long before other alternative comics came along. A veteran of london's original Comedy Store, his haunted mimetic humour was far weirder and more wonderful than today's straight, formulaic stand-up - and a quarter of a century later, he's still going strong. "One of alternative comedy's true originals." [The Guardian]; "I don't like the phase 'lunatic fringe', but if there was an award in that category, Andrew would be well in the running." [Daily Telegraph]
DAVE RUSSELL
Dave Russell is a lost legend from the 60s. He takes you on a trip through council estates and binoculars of wisdom to paper flowers and new hamlets. Ivor Cutler meets Jandeck meets the Incredible String Band. [tinyurl.com/2y47e5]
