Mutton Club at the Buffalo Bar, N1 with DJ Bob Stanley (St Etienne) Fri, Feb 6th
Hey up. An actual indie disco that plays indie music (not sodding Oasis or Groove is in the Heart for starters). I've add the press release but the first night was amazing - where the hell else can you hear Fatima Mansions, Kenickie and Pavement. Eh? Well exactly...
After a storming launch night, Mutton is back on Friday, February 6th! Having taken a brief pause to allow its dusted-down records a chance to recover from the shock of being played to a raucous crowd of indie kids (young and slightly worn round the edges), Mutton is ready to unearth more gems from the riot grrrl, alternative, Britpop, lo-fi and grunge brigades. Add a sprinkling of Mutton’s unique mix of danceable B-sides, smashing new sounds and even some Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and you’ve got the first unmissable night of 2009.
This month we’ve got amazing sets from Bob Stanley of indie pop’s finest Saint Etienne and Cherrybomb club’s Matthew Lees alongside Mutton regulars director of upcoming Brit flick 1234 Giles Borg, Louise Please, Naked Mike, Matrioshka and Frangipani. So line up the snakebite and black and dig out your Ride daffodils T-shirt in readiness for the best indie disco ever.
It’s a night that’ll leave you totally smutton… Or at least with a free badge to take home
