Charlie Parr [http://www.myspace.com/charlieparr]
A confused and shy individual, Charlie Parr plays original and traditional folk and Piedmont-style blues, accompanying himself on National resonator guitars, 12-string guitar and sometimes a banjo.
Charlie is from the same Duluth music scene that spawned the likes of Low and Haley Bonar, and his music delves deep into the back roads of american folk music, there’s hints of robert johnson, nick drake and will oldham in his playing, and a true from the heart power and clarity that is simply stunning. This guy is the real thing, and you can hear it in every note he plays, which would also explain why the people at the superb End of the Road festival ask him back every single year!
"Charlie Parr has failed at most things in his life. Music seems to have rendered him unemployable and is the only thing he’s ever done with any confidence. A lot of folks have been saying nice things about Charlie, despite the lingering odors and indecipherable comments he makes. It says a lot about folks; they’re hanging in there with him, in spite of himself." - Charlie Parr
"Charlie blew us all away; his dexterous fingers and medicinal voice eased us into every story he told. I had heard of his legendary status and will be eternally thankful that I was able to experience it first-hand. Someone shouted back as the painfully self-deprecating Charlie thanked us profusely for appreciating his music despite subbing, “We love you Charlie!” Indeed." - Amelia's Magazine
Neil McSweeney [http://www.myspace.com/neilmcsweeney]
Neil plays beautifully considered and perfectly restrained music - his approach of minimalist song writing, story telling, nostalgia, pure joy... and that voice will delight fans of Low, Adrian Crowley, Nina Nastasia, Mark Kozelek, Jason Molina, and just plain good music. Don't miss him.
"Deeply felt, brooding songs rich in imagery…" - The Guardian
"The fruits of his labour aren’t growers, but instant buds of excellence” - BBC Manchester
Michael Rossiter [http://www.myspace.com/michaelrossiter]
Deftly fingerpicked folk loveliness from a local favourite. Michael can write a song, without doubt… but he matches this strength with his ability to perfectly execute traditional folk as well as his own material, and to sing from his heart and get the perfect tones from his guitar.
"…a stunning collection of traditional folk songs, with a few of his own compositions thrown in. Rossiter’s knowledge and ability to revitalise ancient songs with fresh arrangements is nought short of wonderful." - Leeds Guide
