Mutton Club at the Buffalo Bar, Friday 5th Dec 9.30pm till very late
Walking a tightrope between hollow nostalgia and a firm belief that all the best stuff rarely gets played outside of most people’s front rooms, Mutton mixes sorely missed 1990s dancefloor fillers from the likes of Swervedriver, Earl Brutus, Dinosaur Jr, Teenage Fanclub, Ned’s Atomic Dustbin and Stereolab with a touch of the new from Cut Copy, Florence & the Machine, Vampire Weekend, Los Campesinos! and Grinderman. Plus those who’ve stayed the course like the Super Furry Animals, Wedding Present, The Fall and Belle & Sebastian.
Featuring DJ sets from Giles Borg, director of up-coming Brit flick 1234, plus Long Jane Silver, Louise Please and others, you can expect a heady mix of old favourites, less obvious songs from the Britpop, shoegaze, and riot grrrl brigades, obscure b-sides, future classics and possibly some Carter USM.
And like every good indie disco there’s a free badge for all.
