Kong is not a name chosen by accident. It does not describe an effeminate collection of callow fuckers thrust together by a desire to look plucked or sound eager to please.

All are/were/shall be in other, perhaps more commercially viable bands, which is notable only because it fills out their biography and creates the impression of a deeper back-story, which becomes, by definition, massively interesting to idiots. Yes, Nancy was in Jane’s Addiction, and Milicent founded ITV.

Kong’s music, such as it is, takes all the risibly obnoxious elements of lots of very loud, credible bands, feeds it non-brand specific lager, then comes on it in its sleep.

In truth, they are difficult band to describe unless you're a music journalist, in which case you'd probably pick a large animal (elephant, dinosaur or a fantastical creature of myth) and put it in an unusual place (Middlesbrough) with predictably madcap results.

In summary - the first time I saw them play I felt a burning sensation on my arm and realised that I had developed eczema.

That Fucking Tank

That Fucking Tank comprise of the two sexy members of the late great Kill Yourself. Famed for their spirited performances, they play with semi-improvised riff and dance rock. It's wonderous.

Their album “The Day of Death by Bono Adrenalin Shock” is available on Jealous / Obscene Baby Auction. It is the best local album this century, do buy it.

Humanfly

Spawned out of the ashes of much loved and missed UK Hardcore veterans "CANVAS", HUMANFLY started jammin' way back in 2000AD. Initially focusing on creating tripped out stoner rock eventually this developed into a faster and more abrasive style. In 2004 they released the album "A God Among Insects" on the now defunct Calculated Risk Label.

Over the following few years their sound altered and morphed into a more progressive and psychedelic kind of doom with more focus on punk/political themes. In recent times they went to Europe with Kent's finest... BOSSK and released the critically aclaimed "II" on LP through TOTAL PROG and on CD through 20 BUCK SPIN. The band most recently collaborated with the uber gifted Rose Kemp to produce a compilation track entitled "Heavy Black Snow" for the label, Children No More/Brainwash. They are currently working on new material in order to unleash a new album in the New Year.

Chickenhawk is a raging schizophrenic multi-personality disorder of an album. Insanely original and musically adept the four members have fashioned a UK sound that stands up to the heavy avant guard of Naked City and Mr. Bungle whilst also having the riffs and head-banging nature of Melvins and Harvey Milk.
