Following the success of the 5th Birthday Glam Night in October, Pinup Nights returns to the Flying Duck and begins a new last-Friday-of-the-month residency.
So, Friday 28th November sees another 3 great bands at Pinups. DESOLATION YES! describe themselves as dance/industrial/pop and are influenced by David Bowie, Daft Punk and lots of acts inbetween. They will be supporting The Whip at The Arches on Friday. SPIDERHOOF are an excellent band with a jaunty new wave sound, and finally THE CLIFTONS are simply a gorgeous sounding jazzy ensemble. Nice.
After the bands there will be the Pinup Nights disco with myself John D, Higgy, James and Iain OC playing indie, punk, soul, electropop and lots more from midnight til 3am in both the Living Room and the Kitchen of the Flying Duck. We're really looking forward to having 2 rooms on the go as it was such a riot last time.
Just to keep you on your toes, the last Friday-of-the-month residency doesn't apply in December, because the following action is lined up:

Since Pinups is now 5 years old we thought it was high time we brought in the New Year with some traditional Hogmanay fun! Lumps of coal…black buns …incredible music…absolutely no ceilidh….and some very special Scottish guests!! Mogwai, Errors, A tall dark handsome stranger (TBC) and live performances from Pop Up, Ming Ming & the Ching Chings and Pooch.

Join us for our traditional seasonal celebration of Cliff Richards, featuring live performances and Christmas covers from The Parkers, Member of the Wedding and Lean Tales. Rumours already abound of a massive 3 band rendition of “Fairytale of New York”. Last year we tried to make Merry Cliffmas a full-blown “Vic Reeves Big Night Out” style affair with karaoke and comedians and all sorts but it pretty much fell on its arse. So this year we’ll return to the tried and trusted format of live bands performing covers and some japes between their sets. You can expect all your favourite Cliffmas games including the legendary “Sit on Santa’s Knee” and “Mince Pie Eating Contest” – and the greatest Guest DJ of ‘em all, Jesus Christ, might just be popping in to spin some tunes.
