SHOT BY BOTH SIDES: This Thursday @ Amersham Arms. Guardian Guide's Featured Club Night...
For most of you, Halloween probably wound up a couple of weeks' ago, but in a dark and seedy corner of New Cross - which, granted, could be any corner of New Cross - it's still going strong. Shot By Both Sides prides itself on being a nearly-the-end-of-week party that promises "degeneracy and bloodlust" - again, something that isn't too shocking in New Cross, but it's still a darn sight darker than most.
Essentially an evil indie disco, on Thursday Lupen Crook and the Murderbirds, Captain Black and La Shark will all be conjuring up their own sinister sounds before punters are treated to a selection of northern soul, black-hearted folk, snaggletoothed 1960s garage and punk'n'funk as well as gladioli-brandishing 80s alt rock and new wave, while the DJs build the occasional wall of sound with some girl group pop. lc
