FREE GIG MONDAY - THESE ARE POWERS (Dead Oceans) + Chops + Pifco @ Brudenell
*FREE ENTRY SHOWCASE GIG*
Monday 17th November.
THESE ARE POWERS
THESE ARE POWERS are future primitives Anna, Pat and Bill from Brooklyn, NY and Chicago. These Are Powers make music like cashmere lightning - a free language of sound, hymns piggybacking on noise collages, club beats and ragas.
These Are Powers are a celebration, present in dreams and energy; the dynamics of being and the infinity of possibility. They have numerous EP's and 7"s released on Dead Oceans, HOSS, Deleted Art, Elsie + Jack. You may/may not be interested to know that Pat used to play in Liars.
HAVE A LOOK, HAVE A LISTEN, THEY'RE GREAT!

CHOPS
CHOPS will be playing our new songs, which are actual songs, what we have written and learned, a definite step away from our old tactic of making it up as we go along, inverting classic popular music song-writing techniques, hellbent on perfecting the combustion of jazzoid excess and lock-popping party bombs... fidgety drum patterns, effect-drenched saxophone and broken sound synthesizer showdowns swell forth caked in euphoria and creeped-out gravity. CHOPS don't so much make music as radiate it - playful, often making unprejudiced leaps in harmony, sometimes defying logic in their conscious pursuit of the futile and incoherent in an attempt to echo our modern everyday trials, tribulations and exhultations. A split 12" with Helheston is out now on Upset The Rhythm Records.

PIFCO
Pifco use drums, guitar, a big old keyboard and some shouting to create a melodic and increasingly danceable racket.
With a special Tape release on Chinchillatone and a new-ish proper ace CD on Run of the Mill, Pifco are Leeds most overlooked band.
“killer combination of Neu!-style droning motorik with simple pop hooks”
“The album by Pifco is fantastic and well worth checking out” (Stuart ‘Mary and Ste’s new best friend’ Maconie)
