Brainwash presents... Saturday 15th November, Cockpit 3:
YOUTHMOVIES:

"...with the release of their exquisite debut album Good Nature it seems that the recognition Youthmovies deserve is sure to follow. Although obvious comparisons can be made to the angular agit-punk pop ferocity of Foals, Youthmovies are far more adept at exploring the more intricate side of the genre, creating soundscapes that rage with a relentless brutality and aching compassion. 5 Stars."
-The Independent
"Good Nature is thick with memorable pop... It’s a thrilling journey, revealing something fresh each time, and while there are passages when you can compare Youthmovies with other bands, ultimately they’re indefinable and incomparable. 9/10"
-Rock Sound
ADAM GNADE:
"Adam Gnade's (guh nah dee) work is released as a series of books and records which he says 'are kinda the same thing'. They share characters and themes; the fiction continuing plotlines left open by the songs.' Like the books, the lyrics are all prose writing (not poetry or spoken word) and are delivered in a style Adam calls 'talking-songs.' According to Adam, he's 'tried to keep the book stuff and the songs separate in the past but it didn't work. The only way I could pull off doing both was to integrate them as much as possible; immerse the songs in the books and the books in the songs.' (One reviewer noted that, in the process, it has "created its own universe" which Adam says 'sounds like bullshit.')"

THESE MONSTERS:

"Up next, these monsters are simply amazing. The five-piece make instrumental blunderbusses of songs that would give Godspeed You! Black Emperor or Mogwai nightmares. The doom-laden riffs and drummer Tommy's relentless assault on his kit are at once brutal and strangely pretty, whilst the rousing saxophone adds a perverse showtune element to proceedings - a vicious, energetic and loud-enough-to-be-pornographic live show."
- Sandman Magazine
"Time has frozen as witnesses halt in their tracks, intoxicated by the heady miasma of jazz-post-rock resonance both comforting and devestating..."
