Acoustic Lady Land play at Be @ Proud Galleries this sat!!!!!!!!! Playiing tracks from their new album
It’s where guitars turn deviant, performance artists swing from the rafters, and horses bolt from their stables… Be @ Proud is a kaleidoscopic assault on the senses, a regular one off every Saturday at the old horse hospital in Camden. Indulge yourself with the very best leftfield bands, stunning burlesque and jaw-dropping visuals the capital has to offer – we dare you.
Quite simply one of the most exciting bands to have emerged in the last 10 years, Acoustic Ladyland have blurred the line between Jazz, Rock, Punk and Indie picking up thunderous critical acclaim and a shed load of awards including BBC Jazz Award For Best Band and Timeouts Live Act of the Year. Various members of the band have recently recorded and performed with Supergrass, Brian Eno, David Byrne, Mercury-nominees Polar Bear, Basquiat Strings and Dennis Hopper Choppers along with various other writing and performing projects. Members of London’s infamous F-IRE Collective and currently recording their fourth album, AL have taken time out from their relentless recording schedule to play live for Be @ Proud which promises to be the gig of the year. Simply unmissable…
Unpredictable, volatile and brilliant, the Mercy Arms live show has already become part of Australian music's rich underground tapestry and is now infiltrating Camden. Having just released their self-titled debut album the Mercy Arms have drawn comparison to the classic pop of The Smiths and the noise-guitar mastery of My Bloody Valentine, emerging as possible next of kin to their antipodean forefathers The Triffids and The Go-Betweens. Since forming in 2005, Mercy Arms have toured Australia with contemporary greats (Pixies, The Strokes) and young buzz-bands (The Horrors, Editors) and are supporting Cut Copy and Ladyhawke on our shores.
The Lovely Jonjo has been DJing for six years, though it really kicked off for him, when Erol Alkan made him a resident at the legendary Trash, at The End every Monday night. Trash was a veritable clubland institution and it made Jonjo an icon of the indie clubbing scene. Now a resident at Durrr Jonjo always knows how to kick start the party.
The Non-Stop Electric Cabaret Bar in the south gallery brings revellers the most cutting edge performance artists on the scene today. These extraordinary and titillating ensembles are curated by London’s celebrated sassy Burlesque artist Miss Vicky Butterfly and accompanied by a vintage rock n roll jukebox from the stables market stall holder, Bioux.
Late night DJ revelry comes from Be residents David H, John Power and Clemence Lachance whilst VJ extraordinaire Hagop Matossian adds a swirling dose of 3D eye candy behind the main stage. You have been warned!
