The 16th Raindance Film Festival: 1-12 October 2008
Raindance is the largest independent film festival in the UK. We work towards discovering, fostering and championing new talent and audiences - the lifeblood of the film industry.
The 16th annual Raindance film festival is taking place in London from the 1-12 October at the Cineworld Shaftesbury Avenue, with a few further screenings and masterclasses at the Rex Cinema and Bar on Rupert Street.
Featuring homegrown UK talent (including Flick, Nightwatching and Clubbed) the best in cutting-edge Japanese, European and global cinema, punk documentaries and non-fiction from around the world.
A few cuts of particular interest to DiSers:
- Choke
From maverick author Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club) and breakout new writer-director Clark Gregg comes the subversively comedic tale of Victor Mancini, con artist, sex addict, Colonial villiage re-enactor, angst-filled son, serial restaurant choker…and unsuspecting romantic antihero for our modern times.
- Patti Smith Dream of Life
Following the multitalented and private artist over 11 years of international travel, through her spoken words, performances, lyrics, interviews, paintings, and photographs.
- Ist Faust schon?
An insightful exploration of Faust, one of the most revered and influential bands of our time.
Tickets are available for individual films (priced £10/£6 concessions) or a pass for the entire festival is available for £125/£100.
