MICACHU (and her backing band The Shapes) have been hyped to the heavens of late – and with good reason. Their eccentric, colourful and unpredictable brand of pop music, which takes in everything from grime to folk, has got lips moving (and feet tapping) in recent months across the capital and beyond. Having played just about every good festival over the summer, LFC has secured a very special headline show on the eve of the band's Bestival slot. With their live show known to incorporate customised instruments (as well as a hoover), we should be in for a treat. Quite simply, it's advisable to catch them in a small venue whilst it's still possible.
London trio LETS WRESTLE trade in brash, boisterous and at times beautifully discordant indie-pop informed by the likes of early Cribs, The Fall, Pavement and Art Brut. Signed to the excellent Stolen Recordings (home to Pete & The Pirates and Screaming Tea Party), they've excited bloggers everywhere, who've lapped up their give-a-shit attitude and instantly memorable tunes, that sound rather like they were recorded in a lavatory.
SMOKEY ANGLE SHADES are an Irish five piece who have stormed the London scene of late with their good time, harmony-filled, 60s recalling brand of rock 'n' roll, which transport you to a 3am boozed-up camp fire sing-along at some utopian festival. Described as a cross between Kevin Ayres, Kings Of Leon and The Pogues, it's hard not to see a big things ahead for this amiable, hirsute lot.
