Smokers Die Younger 'Kermit Song' 7" single - Out 18th July.
Smokers Die Younger are five oddballs from Sheffield who make a fantastic blend of post rock and indiepop. They are a bit like early Pavement, a bit like The Fall, even a little bit like The Velvet Underground and The Pogues. To quote Sandman Magazine "This is startlingly good stuff. Hard to categorise, incredibly individual, yet very easy to like." Marc Riley (aka Lard) on 6Music is a fan and Tasty Zine said "'Kermit Song builds up a strange kind of bastard grandeur which makes it rather glorious." Too right.
Smokers Die Younger's single is released on Monday July 18th. It is a limited edition on Frog Green vinyl. You can buy it on pre-order from our website now. It will be available from the following shops from July 18th:

We have copies of the The Long Blondes third single "Appropriation By Any Other Name" on Angular Records to sell on www.theespc.com. We have copies of both the 3 track CD and the 2 track 7". But stocks are limited to one per customer. Sorry! See www.thelongblondes.co.uk for info on their gigs & events. Did you see them in the NME as well? Woooooo!
Box Of Odd - surf garage compilation.
See a lovely (& strangely accurate) new review of this CD on Drowned in sound at http://www.drownedinsound.com/articles/12536.html You can download some tracks for free from our website.
Scaramanga 6
Wrath Record stalwarts Scaramanga 6 have a new single out and we have a few of them to sell! Those Scaramanga chaps give it to you straight on this brilliant 7". Initially it is a gentler affair of strings & cooing vocal with the immortal line "Where did you get that horrible face?" which then builds into the kinda james-bond-theme-in-an-industrial-grinder noise Scaramanga 6 are reknowned for with the rejoinder "You ugly, ugly COW!!" Fantastic.
Milburn
Milburn got in the NME recently simply for being best mates with Sheffield's newest trendies Arctic Monkeys. But forget such sillyness for we've got hold of their great debut 7". "Lipstick Licking" is a cracking punky indiepop tunes which manage to sound like a cross between The Only Ones and Elvis Costello & The Attractions. But still they get compared to the bloody Libertines. Pah to lazy journalistic nonsense! Stick this on your turntable for guaranteed summer fun.
Harrisons
Following their appearance on Thee Humbug #2 CD, quite a few people have been asking us about Harrisons releases. They have a single out in August on Melodic Records & we will be selling it on ww.theespc.com. More on that in our next newsletter.
