An eagerly awaited repeat Manchester performance from the man who essentially is Rivulets, Nathan Amundson. Hailing from Chicago, IL, Nathan has been making sparse, fragile and haunting music since the turn of the century that draws comparison with Codeine, Nick Drake, Will Oldham, Red House Painters and in particular to Low. In fact, his 2 albums - 2002's "r i v u l e t s" and 2003's "Debridement" - both feature Alan and Mimi from Low, and were released on their own Chairkickers Union label. On record, Nathan's contemplative voice and folky acoustic guitar are backed with ethereal, sometimes barely audible organ, strings and glockenspiel stolen from a space rock ballad. Last seen mesmerising the Britons Protection, his live performances are simple, yet eloquently captivating. Highly recommended for fans of Secretly Canadian and Saddle Creek stuff.
Annelies Monseré is a Belgian songwriter, currently living in Hilversum, the Netherlands. Her basic instruments are piano and voice. In some of her songs she also uses cello, guitar, melodica and glockenspiel. The simplicity of the melodies is not unlike Empress, while the sound textures will remind the listener of Movietone or Tara Jane O’Neil.
The North Cross are a semi-improvised country-noir collective. Musically they're somewhere between Boxhead Ensemble and early Songs: Ohia, topped with Daniel Mills' rich Buckner-esque baritone.
