Dirtblonde's debut single, "The Hangmen" is available online from the band's official website. It has been played by Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 1, earlier this month, as one of the tracks chosen by influential American DJ Nic Harcourt.
The song received rave reviews, with the band's sound being compared to classic acts such as Jesus & Mary Chain, Sonic Youth and Nirvana.
"This really is corking…the songs exude a gawky yet insouciant menace…in all, a top-notch effort, to which the only fitting response is, quite simply, 'ace'." TASTY Fanzine
"Blue's vocals are vaguely reminiscent of Kim Gordon if she hailed from the Wirral while Hell's git lines give songs like 'I'm Tired' a totally original filthy edge." JOY Fanzine
"A delicious slab of nasty rock scuzz... it's the sound of motorcycle crashes, of bruised eyes, of existential rage and a yearning for glamour in a grey world." Kitten Painting Fanzine
"I'm already hooked on [Dirtblonde] with no looking back. This is quite simply because 'The Hangmen' is ace... their music is unnerving and honest in its construction, It's also really rather excellent." Shadowplay Fanzine
"It is quite catchy in a kinda dark sort of way...now imagine what Martin Hannet could do with this lot if he was still around." Everything You Hate Fanzine
"Provides the most excitement and compulsive listening. The whole plot rumbles, vicously and recklessly, like a lorry with no brakes, careering against the railings...There are obvious shades of JAMC, but with far more abrasive intent than any NYC wannabe... you don’t have a Jack and Meg, you have more of Sid & Nancy meets natural born killers Mickey and Mallory. Lovely." ManchesterMusic Website
" ...A highly invigorating, scuzzy din of squealing feedback, dirty bass lines and blasé female vocals that’s all delivered with plenty of punk venom." GIGWISE
"The Hangmen bursts out the speakers spitting like a viper, demanding your attention." HIGH VOLTAGE
"A superb bit of paranoid art-rock fuzz that realises the potential shown in their scatty early demo's...This single is wonderfully produced, raw, energetic and promises hangmen at your door coming to get you. Shades of Jesus & Mary Chain, early Nirvana, Mclusky." I Shot The Deputy
More dates are likely to be confirmed soon.
