An especially mixed up four band bonanza plus dj support arrives at London's delightful Spitz for a one off showcase. On this evening rock will sit next to electronics, pop next to blues as One Little Indian's signing, Deadman, headline with their atmospheric and thematic take on rock and roll. Having produced their first album 'Paramour' in 2001 with Mark Howard, who's additional credits include Bob Dtylan and U2, this Texan couple have gone from strength to strength with this music magnate resulting in the creation of the critically acclaimed EP, 'In the Heart of Mankind,' whose conceptual broodings, offered a beautifully rendered piece of guitar forward rifts and ghostly melodies. Expect an excellent set of past masters and pioneering pieces. In support, the ever tight and startlingly deft Black Bikini Alpha will set the stage alight with their highly energetic and evocative show that has seen them play capacity gigs alongside Feeder, Bad Manners and The Fun Lovin' criminals whilst the hugely talented and almost mythical musings of The Gemma Ray Ritual will bend your mind with some of the most enigmatic and down right strange lyrics you're ever likely to hear accompanied by blues, rock, slide guitar, Victorian ladies violin and banjo. They are London-based purveyors of an intense and histrionic music that draws in influences such as Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Billie Holliday, The Gun Club, Bjork, The Mars Volta and Calexica and Gemma Ray’s emotive song writing has been given a new lease of life since teaming up with Mark Braby, and Andrew Zammit (ex-Ten Benson) over a year ago, and more recently, Johnny Wood and Sarah Peacock (ex-January). Kicking the night off with a capital K, is a duo of youths whose raucous shows and high adrenaline buzzsaw action has seen them take to stage with their sick synths and bass quite regularly now and completely destroy it. A UK tour with Itch and Silent Front is planned for later this summer They're hot as hell and they take no prisoners, they're the awesome Tiger Force. Don't mess.
DJ support comes from the new independent music label Seed, who'll be certain to entertain with everything from Italian horror soundtracks and Henry Mancini to the machine music of new Detroit.
All this for sweet FA as well.
