press release
GEORGE PRINGLE
DEBUT SINGLE – CARTE POSTALE
RELEASED ON DECEMBER 3RD
"My problems stretched out in the sun and sent me a post card to say they hoped I was ok… and 'Isn't Buenos Aires fabulous?' "
22 year old diseuse George Pringle is a unique artist of her time, each of her songs delivered in an inimitable spoken-word style, formulating her own "cinematic mini-epics" on notepads, typewriters and laptops. George makes her eagerly anticipated debut with single Carte Postale on December 3rd.
With her demos championed by Radio 1's Rob da Bank and Huw Stephens, George Pringle's bleep-beat-poetry has been fed from her laptop 'Truman' to a growing following of fans live and online. Casting the imagery of Diane Arbus and Frederico Fellini through the prism of LCD Soundsystem and Nico, George encapsulates the 21st Century's sights and sounds within references of classical literature, Nintendo and cinema.
"Spoken word queen of now... Something rather special - when she played Latitude Festival, the sun came out." - Huw Stephens, PLAN B
"Starting out by creating her own genre, George continues to keep things unique." – I-D
Self-producing her new musical blueprint on home studio programme Garageband, George has worked with Stereolab's Andy Ramsay to help mix her debut releases. Carte Postale will be the first of a monthly serialisation of free download singles. Beginning with Carte Postale on December 3rd, followed by tracks in January and then February, culminating in an extra special EP release.
In recent months George has appeared at Bestival, Latitude, Truck Festival and In The City. A mesmeric performer, she has a number of live dates this autumn.
