SATURDAY 3RD NOVEMBER
LIARS W/ HTRK & ROLO TOMASSI
Once described as "the most frightening, evolutionary band on the planet." Liars have never been comfortable with staying in one place for very long. Geographically, personally and most of all musically, each successive album that they release comes with a new agenda, a new heritage, a new set of reference points and a new way of thinking about music. Liars' 4th album marks another bold transition for Angus Andrew, Aaron Hemphill and Julian Gross, foregoing theory for a more practical approach - one based on traditional song structures and instrument usage.

WEDNESDAY 21ST NOVEMBER
JULIAN VELARD W/ GAVIN KILEY & LAISH
Him:
A curly haired, native New Yorker living in Brooklyn, former video store delivery boy to the Stars, son of a French immigrant and 4-Time Jeopardy Champion from Alabama. I've done a slew of bizarre jobs to support myself, anything from teaching pre-k gym, to sweeping streets in Paris, to lying to focus groups for money. Wrote my first song at 16 about Pee-Wee Herman but never got the nerve to send it to him. I get most of my inspiration while walking, listening to music through a busted ipod, reading the New York Post, doing all three at once gets me a lot of bruises. Been touring incessantly the past few years in search of higher life forms like myself, and to my amazement, the list keeps growing.
The Music:
Its a weird brand of classic, psych as in psychiatric, Piano pop, (no guitars allowed folks), 2006 cum 1979 style Rock and Roll. I made it over the summer with someone even crazier than me, ukulele and banjo expert/record producer Roger Greenawalt. All my music nerd friends play on it, but surprisingly, it still rocks. It's about the movies, my favorite things in the world. It's about going to them by yourself, the feeling you get from watching them over and over till everything you see, hear, and think plays out like one. Think of a Guys and Dolls era Musical starring Steve McQueen and Bill Murray, scored by Harry Nilsson, with Michael Jackson circa The Wiz and Taj Mahal singing all the songs. Pretty cool huh?

SATURDAY 24TH NOVEMBER
AKRON/FAMILY W/ SPECIAL GUESTS Phosphorescent
Akron/Family are four extremely nice, sincere and well-mannered young men from rural America who came to NYC (in 2002) to make music, hoping to find a thread of real magic still winding through this city’s music scene. They certainly did just that, but they did it by retreating into a tiny Brooklyn apartment, where they made their own world instead, in complete and stubborn isolation. They proceeded (while simultaneously growing alarmingly long beards and developing a playful but hermetic quasi-religious/sonic worldview/creed known as “AK” or sometimes “AK-AK”) to make several albums worth of recordings on crude home equipment – the material compulsively chopped, spliced, and orchestrated into fractal jewels of song and schismatically opposed atmospheres.
They’ve got an enthusiasm for pure sound too that shows through in many of the songs – note the squeaking chair in Italy that Miles “played” or the weirdly skewed composition of Suchness (but still a formidable “pop” song, in my opinion), or the “drum” in Rainforest, which is actually all four Akrons simultaneously violently beating their chests, the resulting percussive sound being the air released from their mouths with each beat. As we worked, a song would sometimes be described as too “red” or not “aluminum” enough or some other arcane (to me) reference, but inevitably, corrections made with the aid of a screwdriver or maybe the sanded metal rails of a staircase resulted in an unpredictable but “correct” result.

DIRTY PROJECTORS W/ REVENGE OF SHONBI & CHECHNYA BLAST
Bizarre Indie Rockers and now signed to Rough Trade Records return to Brighton. Their new album (and first album for their new label) Rise Above is one of the most intriguing and unforgettable records to come out this year.
Dirty Projectors is David Longstreth, a Brooklyn native making some of the most bizarre sounds you've heard in a long while. His work on this LP takes in the organic fluidity of Animal Collective's Feels record, the lo-fi insanity of Ariel Pink, the joyfulness of Marnie Stern's debut, the sort of multi-faceted vocals that you don't hear the likes of just about anywhere else, and a concept that is both original and that works, all tied into a one man aesthetic that recalls nothing less than a Prince or a Todd Rundgren.

THE HOOK UP PRESENTS "THE BACK TO BIZNIZZ TOUR"
LETHAL BIZZLE W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
Lethal Bizzle is one of the biggest artists on the grime scene at the moment, although nowadays he has been spotted dipping his hand into the Indie scene, working with superstars such as Pete Doherty and touring with artists as diverse as Gallows and Jack Penate, along with the massive NME Rock n Roll riot tour with the Wombats and the Enemy. The former MC for UK garage posse More Fire Crew has released two solo albums to date, with both massive hits and a refreshing mix of grime with the more rambunctious and ramshackle elements of the indie scene.

FRIDAY 30TH NOVEMBER
THE GOOD LIFE W/ SPECIAL GUESTS
The Return of Tim Kashers more melodic partner to Cursive comes with the release of their fourth album Help Wanted Nights released on Saddle Creek Records (Bright Eyes/Rilo Kiley/The Faint). The Good Life offer a less visceral attack then Cursive but still haunt the listener with Kasher's killing approach to songwriting, Akin to stark lyricism of artists like Bruce Springsteen, each track digs into deep emotional territory through its narrative and melodies. Some songs touch on a dark version of Americana. Achingly beautiful and sharply astute, The Good Life detail human nature in the most honest way possible, taking risks without regret.
