stupidly cheap EDITORS gig
£3, and there's a clubnight afterwards 'n' all.
The Glo Bar, Nottingham Trent Student's Union, Nottingham, Fri 6th May.
8.30pm-2am
EDITORS
You know them. The genes of The Cure, Joy Division, Echo and The Bunnymen and Chameleons in a single band. Drenched in the most intense of delay pedals and the most funereal voice they provide worthy competition to Interpol for the 21st century post-punk crown. It's no wonder that the NME are in a lather over them, practically foaming at the mouth in excitement and recommending them as one of the bands to watch this year. They say "Epic, atmospheric, literate rock.". We say miss them now, pay a lot to see them on the NME tour next year at a huge venue where you can barely see them.
BURNINGMAN
Colourful and quirky indie-pop with a nice, dark, folksy tinge.
JONES OF COLORADO
A collective who utilise 3 guitars, banjo, lap steel, synths and all sorts to make loveable lofi noises. Accessible yet quirky with influences from free folk, Sonic Youth, alt.country and various other sources. Members of The Grace Kelly Footage & The Exploits of Elaine feature to some various degree.
There's a club night afterwards til 2, so you get a lot of sound for your 3 pounds.
