MT. EERIE
Born in Anacortes, Washington, under the shadow of Mount Eerie, in 1978, Phil Elverum began creating at high school, discovering that making tapes and loud noise and exploring the creepiness of one's hometown in songs and books and pictures could be an alternative to doing any other "work". After moving to Olympia in 1997 and spending days heading to K Records or Dub Narcotic just like any other day job, Phil has emerged as one of the truest artists or troubadours at work today. His existence is one consumed wholly by creation, of travelling to sing and dance in front of people. After 4 albums as The Microphones, a winter spent in Norway having toured and "died" resulted in the desire to create a different person, band, artist, whatever - one to explore ideas of dark mountains, cold songs, a grandmother's face and so on. And thus the legend of Mt. Eerie was born.

SLY HATS
Sly Hats is the solo outing of Geoff O'Connor - a quiet pop visionary best known as the chief singer-songwriter of Melbourne quartet the Crayon Fields. 'Liquorice Nights' - O'Connor's first solo full-length - is out on Nervous Jerk Records in June. It's a wonderful collection of curious songs delivered through a diverse landscape of sparse calypso balladry, woody lounge percussion and densely layered baroque pop, and dealing with adult confusion, wonder and romantic tumult.

GUY BLACKMAN
Guy Blackman found ace Perth-based label Chapter Music way back in 1992, playing in a variety of bands on the label, making compilations and zines and recording for a while under the moniker of Riot Guy. Now performing under his own name, Guy plays sensitive piano ballads that aim to make straight white men feel slightly uncomfortable by confronting them with renegade sexuality.
