Soul of Man are Justin Rushmore and Jem Panufnik, together responsible for setting up the world famous Finger Lickin’ Records. As producers they have created a barrage of funk driven records, and as performers are an international DJ success story. Throughout the summer season they will often be found face down in the fields of Glastonbury, The Big Chill or The Glade, as well as finding time for annual appearances in Ibiza. But tonight they come to celebrate the launch of their new release ‘Re-Licked’ - a celebration of ten years of music making. On this stunning double CD the early, groundbreaking classics rub shoulders with twelve spanking new remixes courtesy of the hottest producers in today’s scene. A-Skillz, Merka, TroubleSoup!!, Deepcut, Nick Thayer, Kraak & Smaak and others have created outstanding and diverse reinterpretations of their fave Soul of Man tracks.
Beardyman is the UK Beatbox Champion and one act you should leave the house for. Amongst the throng of beatboxers emerging today, there are few like Beardyman. A tirelessly innovative performer, Beardyman has always pushed the boundaries of what people expect from human beatbox, merging phenomenal beatbox skills with his left-field sense of humour and incredible musicality. After winning the well renowned Lyric Pad Beatbox Battle twice in 2004, he went on to win the title of London's best beatboxer in the 2005 Championships and the following year became UK Beatbox Champion 2006. Beardyman's features on Groove Armada's new album, and on all vocal breaks, DnB and Dub-step EP with Ed Solo, due out in June. Look out for an EP UK Slam Poetry Champion Disraeli and a solo album project with insane production guru Lee 'Muddy' Baker still under construction. Recently, Beardyman's professional portfolio has stretched further to encompass voice-overs for the best-selling game 'Buzz' for the Playstation 2 and 3 and has also produced beatbox-based music for 'trouble' channel on sky, to be shown later this year.
Kraak & Smaak is the ever so slightly illegal sounding band of Dutchmen Mark Kneppers, Oscar De Jong & Wim Plug. Kraak & Smaak formed in 2003 through a series of friendships and chance meetings. In the coming months you can catch them at several festivals including 10 Days Off festival (Gent, Belgium) Bestival in the UK and at the Sziget Festival in Budapest, Hungary. On top of this an extensive national club tour and a number of UK, USA, German and Belgian live shows are planned for October / November 2006.
