YELLOW SWANS
------------
Yellow Swans play a constantly evolving mass of psychedelic noise that is both physically arresting and psychically liberating. Their music is a powerful rendering of free rock, black electronics and white light vibrations. Consisting of Pete Swanson and Gabriel Mindel Saloman, Yellow Swans create a dense ocean of sound using various analog and digital machines, all locked in a spiraling web of feedback. Yellow Swans, having spent two years in Oakland are based once again in Portland, Oregon, where they originally formed in the Fall of 2001. They are currently working on their third studio album, to be released later this year on LOAD Records. The two Yellow Swans shows we put on last year were truly some of the most ecstatic and electrifying gigs I think we've ever experienced. This band have a way of fixating your brain - in a good way!

ARRINGTON DE DIONYSO
--------------------
Arrington De Dionyso is probably best known for his work fronting Olympia's infectious swamp-stomp trio Old Time Relijun. But Arrington is also a distinctive solo musician in his own right, performing with bass clarinet, jew's harp and his own voice, with its unique multiphonic tone, inspired by Tuvan throatsinging and the ecclesiastics of Albert Ayler. Pushing the envelopse between musicality and pure energy, between shamanic ecstacy and lunacy, he enwraps rooms with resonant sound. Arrington's debut solo LP 'Breath of Fire' is available now on K Records, and comes highly recommended. His last performance for UTR was utterly enrapturing!

IGNATZ
------
Named after the vicious mouse that would throw bricks at Krazy Kat's head in the 1910s comic of the same name, Ignatz is the one man band of a young guy called Bram Devens from Brussels, whose futuristic folk / blues inspired chanting and rambling might fit in the "New Weird Belgium" or freak folk movement. Stunning rootsfolk, but played by a lost and unworldly creature, his sound is a mix of fingerpicked guitar music in a cloud of effects, electronic noises and scarce lyrics - a mixture of broken English and unintelligible mantra-like repetitions. Check Devens' two albums on Kraak for more.

ASTRAL SOCIAL CLUB
------------------
Documenting Neil Campbell of Vibracathedral Orchestra's investigations into the more tranced regions of free electronic drone, Astral Social Club bundles a clutch of monolithic cloud formations that seem to just hover in mid-air, vibrating with subtle white light energies. There are drones and there are DRONES and Campbell works his way through a few of the more elementally powerful static wave forms recently formulated by humans. Expect shrieking feedback, whooping microphone loops and CD manipulation.

TALIBAM!
--------
Talibam! is Matt Mottel (Awesome Colour, Shadowmaps, Syntony) on synthesizer and Kevin Shea (of BARR and Storm & Stress) on drums. The band have a brand of shitstorm skronk grounded in intelligent dynamic group exchange - spastic, impossibly octopoidal drum splatter and impenetrable stuttering free jazz soundscapes burdgeon. Above the tangled percussive squall, the synth battles the silence, fast becoming a knock down drag out battle to the death. Too jazz for noise, too noise for jazz, Talibam! have arrived!

RAMESES III
-----------
Rameses III are the South London trio of Spencer Grady (guitars, noises), Steve Lewis (guitars, percussion), and Daniel Freeman (keyboards, processing). Together, they specialise in a dreamy yet disconcerting ambient sound that pulsates and probes as much as it soothes. They have performed with, and are comparable to, Jack Rose, David Grubbs, Christina Carter, Fursaxa, James Blackshaw and Sir Richard Bishop. Their latest EP 'Honey Rose' is out now on Important Records.
