Ladyfest Leeds - all genders/sexualities welcome
http://www.ladyfestleeds.co.uk
Ladyfest Leeds takes place from 10th-15th April. Events are happening at Joseph's Well, The Carriageworks on Millennium Square, The Light, Holy Trinity, Arts Cafe, The Arts Market at the Merrion Centre and on Briggate. Blokes are allowed, y'know.
Music
Music-wise we've got The Raincoats, Sky Larkin, The Duloks, Polly Shang Kuan Band, Shrag, Hello Cuca, The Smears, Baba Yaga, The Termite Club, Jean Genet, a special SpeedQueen night, Penny Broadhurst's music/spoken word show with visuals and loads more. Check the listings for the venues and times.
Comedy
We've got some proper ace comedians playing. Jo Neary and Isy Suttie are particularly fabulous.
Dance & Performance
Unlike most Ladyfests, which consist of bands and the odd workshop, we've programmed a full arts festival. Madness, considering that we're all volunteers and have very little funding. We've got dance events, theatre performances, performance art and even a Japanese sword and tea ceremony.
Exhibitions and Arts
There are a wide range of exhibitions taking place during Ladyfest, from poster exhibitions to photography , to kids arts to installations.
Film
We've got the Bird's Eye View film festival coming up especially for LFL and EXP24 are programming a special show.
Spoken Word & Poetry
We've hijacked a Cherokee storyteller from the Beyond The Borders festival and Matthew Bellwood is doing a spoken word show about Leeds. There will also probably be some sort of open mic.
Workshops & Discussions
There are shedloads of these, from after show discussions and art discussions to workshops on music and debates on some controversial issues.
And more...
Other than this we've got cabaret on the Tuesday night, a punkrock rollerdisco, an autonomous squatted space with all kinds of events...

Hurray! Please come. There will be free zines for the audience at some events (including the comedy night and Penny Broadhurst's show) plus zine distros, stalls, cake, sweets and the like throughout the festival.
