MARCH 13th: RACCOO-OO-OON (USA) + MORE in NOTTINGHAM
RACCOO-OO-OON (USA - TIME LAG RECORDS)
Hailing from the prairies of Iowa, Raccoo-oo-oon are one of those bands that can somehow shift between seemingly divergent genres, while the whole time keeping a sound very much their own. Oft compared to a harder, more-deranged Animal Collective or a feral Black Dice, their's is a sound which allows a speed-blasted, noise-fueled, psych-punk rocker to slide into grooving free-jazz territory, then into a gorgeous, tinkling bliss mantra, before descending to a sludgy psychedlic round of primitive pounding and Native American chants. Following numerous limited CD-R releases for a plethora of labels, including their own Night People imprint, 'The Cave of Spirits Forever' album has just received a full reissue on Time Lag, remastered by Yellow Swan's Pete Swanson.
THE EXPLOITS OF ELAINE (NOTTINGHAM)
meditative drones and hypnotic repetition, bringing together elements of free improv, post rock and distant folk musics. Think Jackie-O Motherfucker, No Neck Blues Band, Charalambides.
MARKS BROTHER (NOTTINGHAM)
Electronic ballads from this mysterious character who brilliantly brings together minimal electronica, gregorian chants and camp disco!
