5 bands and DJ til 4am at The Good Ship this Saturday
It's pretty much always a sell out the Saturday night at The Good Ship. 3 and a half hours of new bands and then 4 and a half hours of DJing until 4am! You are not gonna get a night with more variety, a friendlier crowd or as much fun as this anywhere in London tonight, the crowd is a mix of bands, fans, weekend warriors; mainly locals and a smattering of Antipodeans. No chavs or idiots allowed in. Plus it is a ridiculously cheap £5 (or £4 with cut out of this) to get in.
Live Bands...
The Deep Cut www.myspace.com/thedeepcut
Female-fronted guitar pop group with a sinister twist...Think New Order, JAMC, Primal Scream, MBV, Beatles, Velvets. Also featuring Mat from Death in Vegas.
The Cut Outs www.myspace.com/thecutoutsband
All female trio, like the Pixies when Kim Deal is singing. Sprightly and buzzing onstage, going places.
Pocket Promise www.myspace.com/pocketpromise
"They sing and play with a passionate urgency that remains melancholy yet powerful ....... At times they manage to gently build up an atmospheric wall of noise akin to someone like Doves, and it’s moments like this where they show real promise"
The Gorgeous Colours www.myspace.com/thegorgeouscolours
The Gorgeous Colours blend the best bits of Neil Young, Spinto Band and The Violent Femmes into a thoroughly adorable whole that's still recognisably their own.
Tilt City Ghosts www.myspace.com/tiltcityghosts
Raw and lyrical. Melodic and political. Think Jeff Buckley turning Television on, Radiohead without the view from Uranus.
DJs
Judy and Maurice play a smorgasbord of sounds from the latest in indie, electro and beats through Motown and soul classics, disco, ska, funk, punk and rocknroll. Til 4am!
