BRIGHTON SUMO 8PM-11PM £. 7 ADV/MORE ON THE DOOR
An exclusive warm-up show for Sonic Youth Favourites Bardo Pond, who make a rare appearance in Brighton for this show. Over the course of the last seventeen years, Bardo Pond have created some of the most beautiful, dynamic, spralling music and their latest album “Ticket Crystals” completes a trilogy of work. Ticket Crystals resumes the quintet’s signature doom tempo, multi-layered drones while introducing a lighter pastoral, even Tudor-like feel, which rallies throughout against the band’s youthful riff petulance. Guitarist and founder member, Michael Gibbons, elaborates: “On The Ellipse was really influenced by the post 9/11 vibe, this one is the coming out of that... On this album we really investigated the dynamics between acoustic sound and heavy electrics.” Their impressive spellbinding sets make them one of the most alluring and rare acts to catch live in the UK.
Alexander Tucker has mastered a commanding live performance perfecting his improvisation using detuned guitars, tape loops, harmonised vocal patterns and heavy sonic bliss, Tucker comes across as a cross between David Crosby, Doom Metal and Terry Reilly.
Waning Gibbous bring together members of Bat for Lashes, Pine Forest and John Peel adored I'm Being Good who create the most beautiful experimental folk this side of the atlantic.
Tickets are available from Rounder, Resident & Ticketweb.
