A message from Tom Barman
"Dear dEUS-fans,
It's time to clear up one or two things after what turned out to be quite a confusing summer.
First of all: we apologize for the cancelled shows. May it be a comfort for you that whatever kind of frustration you felt about it, it was felt double by us. We did not wait five years to come back with such an anticlimax.
But there was just no way we could play. Craig had gotten really ill and his old fear of being on the road reared its head again. This is the main reason for which he decided not to go on with us. (And, yes i know: for the second time).
On top of this, Danny was sweating our agenda with his own band Vive La Fête, and started to feel uncomfortable in his role as 'just a bassplayer'. So Danny left too, leaving Klaas, Stef and myself with half a record and an amputated band.
That's in short (and diplomatically put) how the situation was in September.
We all felt like shit and if we wouldn't have had 7 great songs by then, and if we wouldn't have been so inspired by all the goings-on, resulting in more songs, I don't know what we would have done. Giving up was not an option, though.
And that's when the good news started to come in again. We found a great bassplayer, Alan Gevaert, a man of great musicality and experience. To make things even more succulent, Mauro Pawlowski of Evil Superstars -but especially of his own- fame, decided that he was the right guy to finish the record and do the tour with us.
Now, who are we to blow against the wind? We know each other for years and a reciprocal respect has resulted in a collaboration that Mauro refers to as "one that had to be".
From a situation of constant antagonism, conflict and frustration, there came a fresh wind of ideas, solutions and, i had almost forgotten what it felt like, of enthusiasm.
To cut a long story short: we're working on the album as we speak, we're doing 13 shows in November and are looking for a release in the late spring. After that: touring in all possible territories, old (in Europe) and new (States, Russia, Australia).
I also have the honour to announce that Stef Kamil Carlens will add his wonderful voice on a couple of songs on the album and that you can call me a freaking liar if we don't do our best, most focussed gigs in the tours to come.
It'll be with a vengeance, believe me.
Yours
Tom barman."
