CARLA BOZULICH
Formerly of The Geraldine Fibbers, Carla has recently made a stunning solo album for Constellation. She describes it as music "that you can open your chest with, pull out what's inside and make it change shapes. Make it open more times and, even more... til the sound inside has finally sealed the hole where your vile/beautiful heart belongs... loved and safe even when you think you're totally alone." Live, she is equal parts terrifying, haunting, beautiful, scary and enlightening. A refreshingly singular voice.
HRSTA (ex GY!BE)
Sad, exotic melodies with disquieting swells of six-string mayhem, creepy outer-worldly drones, volatile clench-teeth vocals and drums that start from nowhere than become immense before your eyes and ears; all this creating an epic swirl of dense, rotting, blissful psychedelia.
FELIX
Felix is about the slightest scent of the song. It's about stripping it all back until nearly nothing remains and working out if it still works. It's minimalist, delicate, heartbreaking pop like the sparsest moments in the Cat Power back catalogue. It's observational and insightful like Regina Spektor can be sometimes. But without the Broadway show vibe. Or at least a cheaper one. It's Lucy Chua on piano and hushed vocals and Chris Summerlin (Lords, Last Of The Real Hardmen) on guitar creaking around in the background.
